The Emirates Red Crescent (ERC) is sending Dh50 million ($13.6 million) in winter and medical aid to Gaza, as colder weather adds pressure on families across the territory. The package includes clothes, blankets, food, tents, medicine and other essential supplies, with a focus on children, the elderly and those facing acute hardship.
The assistance is being delivered under the directives of President Sheikh Mohamed and coordinated by Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed, Ruler's Representative in Al Dhafra Region and Chairman of the ERC. It is part of Operation Gallant Knight 3, the UAE's main framework for humanitarian relief to Gaza.
According to the ERC, the aid aims to help ensure dignified living conditions in what it described as exceptional circumstances. Last week, two UAE convoys carrying 260 tonnes of food supplies entered Gaza in 10 lorries. The total since the operation began now stands at 14,594 lorries carrying 138,290 tonnes of humanitarian aid.
Separately, Dubai Humanitarian has started a new air bridge to deliver winter relief. The first flight, carrying thermal blankets and other essential items, was delivered with support from Unicef. Flights are operated by the Dubai Royal Air Wing using C-130 aircraft, each carrying around nine metric tonnes of supplies. At least three more flights are scheduled in the coming days to bring blankets for children and other vulnerable groups.
The new package continues a long-standing UAE relief effort for Palestinians, with priority given to on-the-ground needs and humanitarian priorities. The ERC reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening relief operations as winter approaches.
