November is set to be a busy month at UAE cinemas, with a wide range of films hitting the big screen, from Hollywood blockbusters and Japanese monster movies to Indian productions and Arabic-language releases.

Fans of the kaiju genre can look forward to Godzilla Minus Zero, the sequel to the Oscar-winning Godzilla Minus One. Directed by Takashi Yamazaki and set in 1949, the film returns to a Japan still recovering from war and Godzilla's attacks. It will be shown at Vox Cinemas, Reel Cinemas and Roxy Cinemas, with special IMAX previews at selected Vox locations on November 3.

Family audiences have plenty to choose from, including DreamWorks' Forgotten Island and Disney's Hexed. Also, the mischievous Dr Seuss character returns in The Cat in the Hat, an animated film featuring the voice of Bill Hader. It will screen at Vox Cinemas and Star Cinemas.

Those interested in Indian cinema can catch Ramayana, an adaptation of the ancient Hindu epic directed by Nitesh Tiwari and starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Yash. The film will be shown at Vox Cinemas, Reel Cinemas and Star Cinemas.

Independent film lovers are not left out, as Cinema Akil hosts six Hong Kong films from November 6 to 8, including Jackie Chan's Police Story and the acclaimed Twilight of the Warriors: Walled In.

Other notable releases include a psychological thriller starring Helen Mirren as novelist Patricia Highsmith, a crime comedy with Dave Franco and O'Shea Jackson Jr, and a 30th-anniversary re-release of The Shawshank Redemption.
